Cover multiple makes and models with a single programmable sensor, configured on-site to match the vehicle in front of you.
Get OEM-specific sensors that arrive pre-programmed and ready to install, with no extra programming step required.
Stock sensors built on rubber snap-in valve stems, a standard fit for most passenger vehicles and light trucks.
Choose sensors mounted on metal clamp-in valve stems for the added durability that heavier loads and higher pressures demand.
Stock up with multi-packs and service kits that bundle sensors with the seals, nuts, and cores your shop uses on every install.
Stocking the right tire pressure monitoring system parts means fewer callbacks and faster turnaround on every TPMS service ticket. Keeping the right TPMS parts in stock helps your shop complete more service jobs, avoid repeat visits, and keep customers moving. The right inventory starts with choosing sensors that fit your service needs. OEM TPMS sensors suit shops that service one brand consistently, while programmable TPMS sensors cover multiple makes with a single SKU, so a smaller shelf handles more work orders. Seals, nuts, valve cores, and valve stems degrade with age, and reusing them after they've worn out is a common cause of slow leaks and repeat visits. A programming tool and a pressure gauge round out the bench, letting your technician confirm the correction code matches the vehicle before the customer drives off. A loose connection or corroded valve can trigger a warning light just as easily as a dead TPMS sensor battery, so a quick check protects both your parts budget and the customer's safety. Best practice calls for checking all four TPMS sensors at once. If one is near the end of its battery life, the others usually aren't far behind, so replacing the set during a tire change or new tire installation avoids a repeat visit.
Explore the Learning Hub, Shop Talk Blog, or Video Tutorials for balancing techniques, comparisons, and installation guidance.
TPMS sensors mount inside each wheel, usually on the valve stem, and measure tire pressure and temperature. Each sensor transmits that data by radio signal to the vehicle's receiver, which turns on the TPMS light when pressure drops below the recommended level.
Rubber snap-in valves are affordable and suit most standard passenger vehicles, while metal clamp-in valves bolt to the wheel with a nut and hold up better on performance wheels and at higher speeds. Metal valve stems need a fresh nut, seal, and grommet at every service to prevent corrosion and air leaks.
The most common sign is a TPMS light that stays on, often shown as an exclamation point inside a tire icon, even after inflating tires to correct tire pressure. A dead TPMS sensor or a failing TPMS sensor battery usually causes the low tire pressure alerts, and a diagnostic scan confirms which sensor isn't communicating.
Original sensors come pre-programmed with the correction code for a specific vehicle. Aftermarket TPMS sensors and programmable sensors are configured for multiple applications, giving shops flexibility. A cheap sensor with weak signal strength causes more comebacks than it's worth, so stick with trusted brands.
Direct TPMS uses a pressure sensor in each wheel to transmit tire pressure and temperature sensor data. Indirect systems rely on wheel speed sensors to estimate pressure by comparing rotation, so indirect TPMS never needs a physical sensor swap.
Some sensors feature a replaceable battery, but most original sensors are sealed. When battery life runs out on a sealed unit, a full TPMS sensor replacement is required.
No. OEM sensors are vehicle-specific, while programmable sensors configure to match most makes, models, and model years. Always verify compatibility before installing on a passenger vehicle.
A TPMS service kit covers valve stems, seals, nuts, and cores. Add a programming tool to write sensor ID data and a pressure sensor gauge to confirm correct pressure once the job is done.
Only if the vehicle's system monitors it. Many passenger vehicles skip TPMS coverage on the spare tire entirely, and the reset button for TPMS alerts is often near the driver's seat, so check the owner's manual before assuming a sensor is missing.
MT-RSR ships quickly across the U.S. with a wider selection of OEM sensors, aftermarket TPMS sensors, and programmable sensors than most tire shops or discount tire locations carry on the shelf.
